Caramelized Apple Crisp Dessert
This is seriously the simplest most delicious 5-minute dessert ever! I came up with this recipe when I wanted a relatively healthy dessert and had a craving for an apple crisp. My daughter makes single servings of this for herself for a snack sometimes (minus the ice cream). Its delicious with ice cream as a dessert, yogurt or almond butter for breakfast or just by itself it’s divine!
– 1 small/medium apple (I prefer Granny Smith. It’s best to use a firm apple so it retains some texture when cooking)
– 1-2 teaspoons coconut sugar
– ½ teaspoon cinnamon (more to taste)
– Pinch of salt
– 1 tablespoon coconut oil
– 2-3 tablespoons old-fashioned oats
Heat a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add coconut oil. Add cubed apple and toss to coat. Add all other ingredients and just saute until apple becomes soft, sugar dissolves and oats become sticky and crisp around the edges. Serve warm with ice cream or with almond butter or yogurt. I love to sprinkle sea salt over the top!
